My Life: Soli Deo Gloria

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." ~Jeremiah 29:11-13

Let It Snow...

This post has a little bit of everything, which can only mean one thing...RANDOM!!! But, hey, everyone needs to have a post like this once in a while(or all the time, whatever). This is what has been floating around in my mind since my last post...

Narnia! AWESOME!! This is by far, the BEST movie I have seen in a while(yes, even better than my beloved Jane Austen :). While I was watching it, I kept remembering certain parts from the book that I read a while back, but the movie impacted me in an incredible way. The symbolism throughout the movie was spectacular! Aslan was perfect. In all of his scenes, I could see him as Lord and the role he played throughout the story. During the death scene, I felt as if I was watching the Passion again. Because I am a visual person, that scene was a very intense moment. I was at the point of tears because I felt as if I was there, I was person in the crowd, mocking this majestic Lion, but at the same time thinking Wow. God is amazing. He(Aslan/Christ) sacrificed himself for that one boy who made a poor decision, just so he could belong to a strong army, the followers of Aslan. I also love the scene where Peter is attacked by the witch's dog and Aslan stands there and let's Peter face the battle himself. He's not alone because Aslan is there, but Peter is learning to face his fears. That hit me hard too because I have had similar experiences these past couple of years. God is there, but he hides himself in a way and allows me to face my battles and rely on Him even more for guidance. I have so many more things to say about the movie, but I almost have to watch it a couple more times to let everything really sink in.

I'm really enjoying helping out in Mr. C's room. It's just on mondays and Fridays for a hour each day, but I already feel comfortable in the classroom. Mr. C even invited me to the annual Christmas party at his house. The kids are your normal fifth graders...some think they know everything and others are cery insecure. I've been really thinking about what I want to study. I think at this point I'm really considering Elem. Ed. I love younger kids(I would probably teach 4th or 5th grade). I love being able to help them at a crucial learning age and doing projects and fun activities and being able to use my creative side. I'm really excited to have the opportunity to work with these kids.

Anyway...my week is going really well so far. I feel on top all my work and studying for my tests at the end of the week. Mr. Maynard was in a crazy mood today too, which made me happy. Band was really fun today! Band Concert Thursday! Sleigh Bells is the finale.

I love snow!! I'm really starting to get into the Christmas spirit. My favorite Christmas CD's are John Tesh, Avalon, and MWS's Christmastime. I really need to finish all my shopping soon though. It's going to be a crazy Christmas! I still don't know when I'm having our family Christmas. Christmas with the Sawyers this year though! I'm REALLY excited!

To conclude, here's some fun winter pics. Jonathan and I decided to have some fun in the snow:

Hey Sarah!
I am really excited bout having you for Christmas tradtions. We love to celebrate anything, but the best of course, is Christmas, one of the most meaningful as well as festive holidays of them all!!

I whole heartedly agree that the Narnia movie was wonderful. I always resist tears during movies (I am such a wimp tho lol) but I also felt very touched by the Aslan dying scene- there is just so much symbolism of Christ's love/death/forgiveness!!

So Ben/Beth/I were totally convinced that Edmund could be a twin to Danny C. !!! :-D

Love the pics! Your bro has kinda a Napoleon dynamite look/stance in one.. a little stunned :-D

That's how Jonathan looks all the time.

I agree that the movie was WAY better than Jane Austen. ;)

Ben, we should both write letters to Santa about why WE should get cool swords for Christmas.

I want to see it again, too. Maybe tonight, if anyone wants to see it at 9:20 pm...

And I know we already told Ryan, but I'll say it again, Mrs. Beaver reminds me of Mrs. Enck.

BTW, the concert was awesome. You all sounded great, especially the 6th chair flute!

Later.
