A Much Needed Brain Break
My brain is fried from all this AP homework madness, so I'll apologize right away for the post- completely random!!
I'm nearly done with my AP Lang homework. I'm going to finish one more essay tonight and then I'll have 2 more essays and 3 outlines left. It sounds like a lot to do in 2 days, but I'll get it done. And considering how much I've managed to do in the past two weeks, these last couple of assignments will be cinchy(wow-that's a word I haven't used since second grade). A Not-so-Good Review of The Bluest Eye : very good book, though I wouldn't recommend it to a lot of people. There was some strong language and very descriptive "bad scenes" that I just skipped over. It would be rated "R" in the movies. I did have some really interesting thoughts though as I read the last couple of pages. The main story is about this 12-year-old girl, Pecola, who gets raped by her father. At the end, the narrator is describing how much descrimination there is toward this girl who basically had no control over the situation. By looking at Pecola's faults, the people in her town make themselves appear better. They take pride in her negatives. This made me see how this is prevelent in my life. I tend to look at people at school and think that I am some how better than them because I am a Christian. I tend to think that God must like me more because I am a committed Christian and they haven't even received Christ. Instead I should be reaching out to those people BECAUSE they haven't received Christ. They have a story, they can be seriously hurting and may be searching in all the wrong places for something or someone to complete their lives. We are ALL important in the eyes of God.
Ok, here's the randomness....
It's a no-go on the car. The whole budget/insurance thing didn't work out. We are waiting to hear from a guy about a couple of Saturns though, that would be better for me. We should be hearing from him on Wed. or Thur. so hopefully everything works out.
Red Eye: Good movie. I thought it was going to be more suspenseful, which I was kind of worried about because I can get scared easily. To my surprise, the movie was a sort of comedy(if that's how you want to look at it). The "villian" was the funniest part of the whole movie.
I was driving to my guitar lessons(learned a Sanctus Real song today- awesome stuff) via Black Lake Rd. and I noticed the weirdest thing. Maybe I just haven't been as observant lately, but I saw red and orange leaves falling on my windshield. Does this really mean summer is over?? I know school has techinically started but where has my summer gone? I wish I could hold on to it a little longer: go to the beach one more evening, have one more bonfire, go to Chicago one more time, go on one more trolley ride, take a stroll down the boardwalk one more time. I love everything about fall, but I wish I had the freedoms of summer for a while longer.
I'll end this with an adorable pic of my Babes(my mom says she looks like a pig in this picture):

I totally agree with your thoughts from that book. I definitely catch myself viewing people in the wrong way.
I hope the Saturns work out for you. When your parents are nice enough to pay for a car, I guess you've got to let them have the final say.
When you mentioned Black Lake Rd, it reminded me of what happened after I dropped you off last night: Dallas was joking about hitting a deer and I said I would never stop on time. But just after we talked about that, we come around a curve, and in the distance there's a deer crossing the road. Luckily I was looking for them because of what Dallas had said, so I was able to stop and wait for it to cross.
See you tomorrow at church!
You still have 2 more days to do those summer things again!
cute dog
yay for AP classes!!
How did your first day of school go?
